Description

Simple ballet barre and travelling exercises for beginners -
Pip will guide attendees through a gentle warm up and simple ballet exercises at the barre to a variety of genres of music, so they feel inspired, adept and strong. Pip has a deep understanding and years of experience of how to help people of all ages, abilities, and body types access ballet. And the knowledge and awareness of how to pitch the pace of the class, to ensure everyone feels enabled and uplifted. The class is a focussed and joyful dip into experiencing the poise and strength ballet offers, and a fun way of gaining strong, long muscles and a sense of whole body coordination.

Benefits

Strengthens the core, legs and feet, promotes musicality and coordination, improves grace and posture and enlivens the spirit. A potent cocktail that marries muscular training, embodiment, and the confidence that comes from engaging in a personal and joyful connection to flow.

Hosted by Pip Duke

About the Host

Having trained at the Royal Ballet School from the age of 13, Pip became a soloist with the Bayerische Staats Oper, Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, Nederland’s Dans Theater and with Hofesh Shechter. After retiring as a professional dancer she qualified and taught as a Montessori teacher, alongside freelance work in Europe and America as a contemporary ballet teacher. In 2002 she joined the faculty at the London Contemporary Dance School and completed her Master of Arts in Vocational Dance Education and Training, specialising in contemporary ballet and performance. In 2020 she attained a 'Relational Dynamics 1st - interaction with the self and others’ accreditation, and founded the initiative dancers- talking; a curated space, where dance and circus artists connect, and develop their skills in self-awareness, resilience and communication. Over the last five years she has facilitated workshops for performers, students and corporate professionals.

Her work enhances self awareness, confidence and productivity, and highlights the aliveness that face-to-face interaction inspires in a digital world.
