Description

Disability is an uncomfortable space for many. We've all had questions we've been afraid to ask for fear of judgement:

'How do I talk to a deaf person', 'How do I help someone in a wheelchair', 'They say they are disabled, but they look fine, so are they?'

Now is your chance to ask your questions without judgement, and start your allyship journey. As someone with multiple disabilities and neurodivergences, as well as deep knowledge on ableism and the do's and don'ts of how to be a good ally, there is no question off limits. This is a safe space to help support your understanding of disability and what it actually is.

Benefits

This 'Ask Me Anything' sessions allows attendees:

  • the chance to learn about disability in a safe space, and get their questions answered from someone with lived experience.
  • Start their allyship journey to support disabled and neurodivergent individuals, the largest minority group in the world.
  • Increases empathy and understanding
  • Increases engagement with an important topic and broadens perspective
  • Can improve team relationships given that 1 in 5 are neurodivergent

About the Host

Identifying as being neurodivergent and having multiple non-apparent disabilities, I am a strong advocate for disability inclusion as well as accessibility within society. After 11 years working in the tech industry, I refocused my attention and training to start my own company. I now use my knowledge and passion to support the disabled and neurodivergent community with 1:1 coaching. I also strive to further disability awareness with workshops and speaking engagements, building on my previous engagements with Disability:IN, d&i Leaders and my on going role as a PurpleSpace.org Ambassador. Outside of my incredibly rewarding work, I live with my partner and am a cat mama. I am also an avid book collector of first, signed editions.
