Description

This training takes the attendees through the definition of disability and neurodiversity, what disability looks like, the medical and social models of disabilities and demonstrates how prevalent disability really is in our society. The training explores ableism and toxic positivity, and how attendees can start their allyship journey with some Do’s and Don’t’s.

This training pairs well with the Demystifying Disability: Ask Me Anything session, which can be connected at the end. A discount can be given for booking both sessions at the same time.

Benefits

This 'Disability Awareness' training allows attendees:

  • To gain a better understanding of disability and neurodiversity and how to be a better ally
  • Increased empathy for the disabled community
  • Motivation to engage with work colleagues who identify as disabled and neurodivergent
  • Better inclusion practices leading to a more productive workforce
  • Clarity on myths and misconceptions around disability.

About the Host

Identifying as being neurodivergent and having multiple non-apparent disabilities, I am a strong advocate for disability inclusion as well as accessibility within society. After 11 years working in the tech industry, I refocused my attention and training to start my own company. I now use my knowledge and passion to support the disabled and neurodivergent community with 1:1 coaching. I also strive to further disability awareness with workshops and speaking engagements, building on my previous engagements with Disability:IN, d&i Leaders and my on going role as a PurpleSpace.org Ambassador. Outside of my incredibly rewarding work, I live with my partner and am a cat mama. I am also an avid book collector of first, signed editions.
