Description
This session offers a shared, sensory encounter through live music on the viola da gamba — an instrument largely forgotten to time, whose sound can feel both vocal and intimate, and at other moments rich and resonant, almost like a small, breathing orchestra. In my experience, people who hear the viola da gamba for the first time often become quietly absorbed by its sound, noticing its closeness to the human voice and the way it subtly reshapes the atmosphere in the room.
Across the session, participants experience short musical moments that reveal different sides of the instrument. At times, the music unfolds like a human voice — expressive, singing, and direct. At other moments, the sound opens into warm harmonies and lively rhythmic textures, closer to a guitar or lute, capturing the imagination in a different way.
Between these musical moments, the group is gently invited to engage with what they hear: comparing impressions, noticing shifts in mood or texture, or responding to simple listening prompts. Interaction remains light and optional, shaped by the group and the moment, allowing participation without pressure to speak or perform.
The experience is designed for listeners of all backgrounds. What matters is listening together — sensing tone, resonance, and silence — and sharing a moment of attention that feels mindful, focused, and quietly connective.
The session adapts easily to different group sizes and settings and works well as a standalone experience or as part of a longer curated programme.

About the Host
I am a professional musician, educator, and facilitator based in Switzerland, working at the intersection of performance, listening, and shared experience. My background is in early music and ensemble work, and I specialise in the viola da gamba — an instrument whose sound invites attention, reflection, and a different relationship to time.
Alongside my performance career, I have over twelve years of experience working with groups in educational, artistic, and participatory contexts, from conservatoires and universities to youth programmes and adult learning settings. Across these environments, my focus has always been on creating spaces where people can listen more deeply — to music, to one another, and to themselves.
I am particularly interested in how artistic experiences can support presence, connection, and clarity in group settings. Rather than offering instruction in the traditional sense, I design moments that invite curiosity and engagement: short performances, guided listening, and simple reflective prompts that help participants slow down and notice what is happening in the room.
My approach is calm, attentive, and responsive to the group. I value clarity, respect, and a sense of shared exploration, and I enjoy working with people who may not have a background in music but are open to experiencing it in a new way. In corporate contexts, I see these sessions as an opportunity to offer teams a meaningful pause — something subtle yet memorable that supports wellbeing, focus, and human connection.
