Description

This song sharing and discussion meetup offers a welcoming, low-pressure space for participants to come together through music that is meaningful to them. Each session invites individuals to bring a song to share with the group, listen deeply to one another’s selections, and explore the personal, emotional, and social meanings that emerge through guided discussion.

The focus is not on musical expertise or performance, but on attentive listening, curiosity, and respectful exchange. Through facilitated prompts, participants are supported in reflecting on why a song resonates, what memories or emotions it evokes, and how different perspectives enrich the collective experience. The group setting encourages openness, empathy, and mutual understanding, while clear structure ensures psychological safety and inclusion.

Drawing on music therapy principles, each meetup balances shared listening with moments of reflection and dialogue, allowing participants to feel seen, heard, and connected—both to the music and to one another.

Benefits

  • Strengthens connection and group cohesion
Sharing personally meaningful music creates natural pathways for bonding, trust, and a sense of belonging.

  • Enhances empathy and perspective-taking
Listening to others’ musical choices and stories fosters deeper understanding of diverse experiences, identities, and emotional worlds.

  • Supports emotional expression and reflection
Music provides a gentle, accessible way to explore feelings, memories, and values that may be difficult to express through words alone.

  • Promotes relaxation and stress reduction
Intentional listening and guided discussion create a calming, grounding experience that supports emotional regulation.

  • Encourages engagement and authentic participation
Participants can contribute at their own comfort level, increasing confidence, agency, and inclusion—especially for neurodiverse individuals.

  • Builds communication and listening skills
Structured sharing reinforces respectful dialogue, active listening, and thoughtful response within a group setting.

  • Boosts overall well-being and sense of meaning
Reflecting on music that matters helps participants reconnect with sources of motivation, identity, and joy.

About the Host

I am a board-certified music therapist with over seven years of experience designing and facilitating immersive group experiences that support well-being, connection, and creative expression. My work blends music therapy with mindfulness, somatic awareness, and collaborative music-making to create multi-sensory sessions.

I specialize in group workshops that foster community, emotional regulation, and collaborative creativity by combining guided mindfulness experiences with active music-making and improvisation. Drawing on my background in cognitive neuroscience, I intentionally design experiences that support nervous system regulation, psychological safety, and meaningful connection.

My sessions are adaptable for diverse settings, including corporate wellness, leadership development, community gatherings, and retreat-style experiences.
