Benefits

The workshop intention is to get into a flow state with carving, and get an introduction to the process of stamp and printmaking in a tactile and therapeutic 2-hour creative workshop.

Students are guided to create a drawing, transfer the drawing onto a rubber block and then carve this. They are then to ink this block and stamp this, to reveal a print of their work.
Printmaking as an art hones in on fine motor skills, improving mental health through enhanced focus while reducing stress, alleviating anxiety where the engagement brings joy through the process - a practice also explored by famous artists such as Rembrandt, Picasso, Warhol and even Banksy.

Each participant has access tp professional carving tools made in Japan, a bone folder, pencils, more ink, with a safety hand guard and grip mat - all with either morning or afternoon tea with a selection of pastries and a fruit platter. Any dietary requirements are taken prior to the workshop to cater for everyone. The carving kit that participants can keep includes: the rubber block they have used in the workshop, a stamp pad, a small book for stamping, some fine rice paper, and a risograph exclusive printed mini-zine on the origins of printmaking in a neat package, with a bonus handprinted small bookmark.
