Description
Discover practical personal safety skills through dynamic, energizing movement in this interactive 20-minute experience that blends real-world Parkour with modern self-defense fundamentals.
Participants work in pairs and small groups through progressive exercises focused on three core skills: environmental awareness, physical release techniques, and efficient evasion strategies. Using soft aerobic balls (or weighted wallballs for advanced participants), you'll practice realistic escape scenarios that build muscle memory while raising your heart rate.
This isn't Hollywood stunts or aggressive combat training—it's grounded, practical movement education designed for everyday people. Learn how to create space, break free from holds, and move efficiently under pressure, all within a supportive, non-intimidating environment.
Session Contents:
- Quick energizing warm-up
- Partner-based release drills with equipment
- Evasion movement sequences
- Cool-down and key takeaways
Can be extended to 60-120 minute workshops with deeper skill development.
Benefits
Build awareness and confidence whilst activating and energizing for the working day and life in general. Students collaborate in pairs and larger groups to help each other learn and practice the techniques and skills. In addition to stress and anxiety reduction, this helps team building through the development of greater awareness of their partners' feelings, capabilities, and experiences, and hence empathy.
Personal protection skills boost confidence and reduce fear of conflict situations, allowing the practitioners to be themselves, act more freely, and assert themselves as necessary without being so limited by the natural and instinctive fears associated with a conflict or potential physical confrontation. This should in turn increase their mental state of well-being.
This session introduces some basic principles of self-defence with a more down-to-earth and realistic perspective of Parkour in its true form as an athletic pursuit rather than the dangerous stunts and street gymnastics commonly portrayed in social media. In so doing, this training gives people a better and more professional insight into the true nature of these street arts and encourage them to actively further pursue their own personal development and protection capabilities.
________________
1. Immediate Energy & Focus Boost The physical nature of the session activates body and mind, making it an ideal mid-day energizer or morning kick-starter that leaves participants alert and recharged for peak performance.
2. Enhanced Team Trust & Communication Partner-based exercises require clear communication, attentiveness to colleagues' comfort levels, and mutual support—translating directly to improved workplace collaboration and psychological safety.
3. Practical Confidence in Uncertain Situations Learn actionable techniques that reduce anxiety about personal safety, empowering participants to navigate public spaces, travel, and unfamiliar environments with greater self-assurance.
4. Stress Resilience Through Controlled Challenge Practicing physical problem-solving under mild pressure trains the nervous system to stay calmer during workplace stress, deadlines, and high-stakes situations.
5. Fresh Perspective on Physical Capability Experience Parkour's true essence—efficient, purposeful movement—breaking stereotypes and inspiring participants to explore their own physical potential beyond traditional fitness.
6. Transferable Problem-Solving Skills The adaptive thinking required to navigate physical obstacles mirrors creative problem-solving in business contexts, strengthening mental flexibility and resourcefulness.
7. Inclusive, Judgment-Free Learning All fitness levels welcome. Participants work at their own pace within a collaborative culture that values personal progress over competition, fostering psychological safety and authentic participation.
Additional Experience Info
Group Size Recommendations:
For optimal learning outcomes, I recommend 10-16 participants per session. This size allows for proper technique instruction, individual feedback, and safe partner work while maintaining the dynamic group energy that makes the experience memorable.
For teams larger than 16, I offer back-to-back sessions to ensure every participant receives quality instruction and personalized attention. Multiple smaller sessions consistently deliver better results than one oversized group.

About SeTs Ryu:
I'm Chris Spencer, a qualified vocational teacher (HAMK), authorized personal trainer, and certified Parkour instructor with 30+ years of experience teaching movement, self-defense, and functional fitness across Finland and the UK.
My approach combines street arts (Parkour, self-defense) with functional fitness to create practical, engaging physical education that builds both capability and confidence. I deliver sessions in English or Finnish for corporate teams, schools, and community organizations.
Training Philosophy: Experiential and Borderless Learning through interdisciplinary learning and cross-functional training—developing mind and body together through practical, inclusive programs that meet people where they are.
Every workshop is customized in real-time based on participant energy, facility capabilities, and group dynamics. With 35+ years of experience across diverse contexts, we adapt program flow, intensity, and focus to ensure an optimal experience for YOUR specific team. This adaptive expertise—not rigid scripting—is what creates memorable, effective sessions.
Workshop pricing covers instruction, program design, and standard equipment. Venue rental fees (if required) quoted separately based on location and group size. Many corporate clients prefer to host in their own facilities (meeting rooms, company gym) at no additional cost.
