Description

Experience collaborative creative experimentation beyond the limits of language by learning techniques for embodied imagination borrowed from professional choreographic creation processes.

Learn simple techniques and somatic practices to activate the senses and discover intentional ways of listening and relating to others and your environment. Practice connecting with others in a playful and grounded environment.

What we'll do

After a brief warm up to wake up the body and the imagination, participants are guided through dance improvisation exercises that offer new possibilities for moving and working as a group, without losing the connection to the self.

I will offer images and prompts that encourage the group to experiment with how to move through the space with intention and clarity, without requiring any formal dance training.

The group will be guided towards increasingly collaborative movement games allowing you to communicate and relate to the others beyond words. We will conclude with a brief discussion on how to integrate these experiences into our everyday lives.

*Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that they can move in.

**Every exercize can be adapted to varying physical abilities.

Benefits

Connecting to others begins with connecting to your embodied self.

This activity gives you the tools to move fluidly between sensation, expression and collaboration, leaving you at once grounded in yourself and the space, and responsive to those around you.

  • Group listening
  • Embodiment well-being and groundedness
  • Playfulness and creative risk-taking
  • Imaginativeness and Responsiveness
  • Deep communication

As an indepent dance artist and choreographer for 10 years, I am an expert in facilitating welcoming and playful encounters that support embodiment, creativity and collaboration. I create opportunities to connect meaningfully, slow down and observe our sensations and surroundings differently, revealing new possibilities for exercizing the imagination. Fostering a deep and restorative connection to the natural environment is a crucial part of my approach so many of my offerings are easily adapted to outdoor situations, be they urban or rural retreats.
