Description
An interactive workshop that introduces the basics of the nervous system and how it affects emotional responses, stress, and interpersonal dynamics at work. Participants learn practical strategies informed by Polyvagal Theory and neuroscience to regulate their own nervous systems and support colleagues in stressful situations.
This session helps teams understand how physiological states influence behaviour, communication, and decision-making — and provides practical tools to create calmer, more resilient work environments.
-
Explore the autonomic nervous system and how it shapes stress responses (fight, flight, freeze, and social engagement)
-
Understand Polyvagal Theory and the role of the vagus nerve in regulating emotional and physiological states
-
Learn to recognise nervous system cues in themselves and colleagues, such as tension, shutdown, or hyperarousal
-
Practice simple regulation techniques (breathing exercises, grounding, micro-movement, co-regulation strategies)
-
Engage in team-based exercises to explore how group dynamics affect nervous system states
-
Discuss real workplace scenarios, learning how to respond when a colleague or client is dysregulated
-
Receive a personal toolkit of strategies for emotional first aid and resilience at work
Benefits
-
Improved emotional regulation — learn to calm your nervous system and respond rather than react
-
Enhanced empathy and team cohesion — recognise and respond effectively to colleagues’ or clients’ stress cues
-
Reduced workplace stress — practical tools for managing high-pressure situations
-
Increased resilience — build a buffer against emotional overwhelm and burnout
-
Better communication and conflict management — understand how nervous system states influence interactions
-
Applied workplace wellbeing — immediately actionable techniques for teams, managers, and client-facing roles
-
Support for personal wellbeing — skills that can also be used outside work to manage stress and emotional regulation

About the Host
I am a counselling therapist who began my career as a business consultant. My passion lies in helping people move through emotional overwhelm, stuck patterns and relational tension by translating psychological insight into reflection and practical tools that genuinely work in real life.
When I’m not in session with clients, I design wellbeing programmes and psychoeducational workshops for businesses, schools, organisations and communities. I’m particularly interested in making psychological ideas accessible, engaging and immediately usable — not abstract theory, but concepts that help people understand themselves and each other more clearly.
We spend a large part of our lives at work, yet very few of us are ever taught how to navigate its human side. I believe organisations flourish when people feel psychologically informed, emotionally aware and better equipped to handle challenge. Whether through structured workshops, one-on-one counselling, team sessions or teaching emotional first aid for moments when a colleague or client is struggling, my aim is the same: to bring clarity, steadiness and humanity into the spaces where we spend most of our time.
Because when we understand how people work, work works better.
