Workshop

Description

A uniquely therapeutic guided journey into hightened personally expressive movement. Beginning with Body work including Somatic release exercises, activation and body conditioning (influenced by Pilates and Yoga as well as other practices) attendees discover an awakened connection with and awareness of their bodies and their physical presence. Exercises begin with focus on the individual and then radiate out towards the community, fostering sensitivity and playful connection. Then attendees are invited into more personally expressive territory, working with the imagination to unlock a deeper level of heightened presence and embodiment. Impulse and intuitive response is fostered. The experience opens up a space for movement meditation and joyous freedom of expression. There are opportunities to work with themes, images and language as a means of connecting with the creative and expressive aspects of self. The inclusive process allows for a wide range of physical capability and accommodates individual response.

Benefits

This approach to movement is rare and cannot be found in Gyms or Dance studios and yet it is, I believe, fundamental to mental health, emotional stability and physical wellbeing. This work allows for a convergence of Mind, Body and Spirit. It is energy based, dynamic and experiential. It energises and activates, calms the nervous system, allows for self expression and offers a deeper awareness of self. The grounding exercises and breath work are therapeutic.

About the Host

I am a highly experienced Movement Coach specialising in Embodied Communication and Expression. I am a committed educator and have created curriculums for Universities and Conservatoires for over 25 years. I have also curated and delivered bespoke workshops and programmes across a wide range of sectors. My Expressive Body Movement Workshops are designed to be inclusive of all levels of experience and confidence and are a safe space for nurturing self-expression. They involve a mixture of led body conditioning, release work, guided imaginative embodiment and improvised movement. My work leads people to a deeper connection with their body and breath and with one another, fostering an authentic sense of community, and unlocks a more conscious awareness of personal expressive potential. I have been leading my unique Expressive Body work for many years and believe that the health benefits are indisputable. In our current world, EVERYONE deserves to be given an opportunity to express themselves in a unique and dynamic way.
