Daverine began her career in the mental health field in 2017, interning with the UNDP Human Rights Office in Tanzania and the Legal Aid Board of Freetown, Sierra Leone, where she helped create wellness initiatives for women in remote communities.
She later secured a position with the Northern Regional Health Authority in Manitoba, working in remote Indigenous communities as a Families First Home Visitor. In this role, she provided wellness support to families with young children navigating adverse experiences, from unstable housing to addiction. Through intentionally building strong, authentic relationships within the community and prioritizing a culturally sensitive, client-first approach, Daverine significantly improved program outcomes, doubling the province’s success rate.
After two years in Northern Manitoba, Daverine returned to Ontario, where she worked as a counsellor within the shelter system and sexual assault centres, specializing in the intimate partner violence (IPV) sector. She then expanded her experience by working as a support worker for adults with disabilities, once again excelling in her role and contributing to improved outcomes for some of the organization’s most complex clients.
During this time, Daverine also worked with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in high-crisis environments as a suicide prevention and service coordinator.
Having gained extensive experience across multiple areas of the mental health system, Daverine felt called to decolonize her approach to care. As part of this journey, she was accepted as a student by an internationally acclaimed Haudenosaunee Wisdom Keeper and Shaman. This mentorship profoundly shaped her path and inspired her to begin her entrepreneurial journey through Daverine’s Counter—a wellness container that bridges modern mental health practices with spirituality and ancestral wisdom.
Today, Daverine hosts wellness workshops, retreats, and speaking engagements, helping high-achieving individuals reconnect with internal alignment, authenticity, and emotional mastery.
