Eunice Gonçalves Duarte is a Portuguese visual and performance artist, arts researcher and facilitator working at the intersection of art, technology and science. Her practice explores perception, embodied experience and the ways images emerge through interactions between light, materials, space and the body.
She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Coimbra, where her practice-based research explores the formation of images through the physiology of vision, physical phenomena of light and embodied perception. Her artistic work mixes performance, installation, moving image and participatory experimentation, often using accessible and low-tech optical and handheld devices.
Drawing on this research, Eunice develops experiential workshops in perception, collaborative storytelling and non-verbal communication. Participants learn through direct experimentation: observing how perception is constructed, creating narratives collectively, and exploring how bodies, attention and sensory cues contribute to communication.
Her approach brings artistic experimentation into group settings, creating situations in which participants can temporarily step outside their own modes of communication and problem-solving and discover different ways of observing and working together as a team.
