I’m an experienced workshop facilitator, charismatic speaker, and passionate sustainability professional. My core values are mental health & wellness, nature and sustainability. I have a range of prior experiences in – and a desire to continue creating – experiences that help individuals reignite their hope for a better future, empowering workplace teams and community groups.
In 2021 I underwent training to become one of the first Facilitators for ‘Force of Nature’ CIC (‘FoN’) – one of the leading organisations who are transforming mindsets for climate action, particularly amongst young people. This training equipped me with the research, knowledge, tools, and skillset to help myself and others understand the links between the climate and ecological crises and our mental health, together with how we can more effectively cultivate agency and design and deliver meaningful action. Since my training, I have applied it through delivering multiple workshops and training programmes on FoN’s behalf, curated my own events in my community, and trained others to become facilitators.
I have a wealth of experience in creating and facilitating safe, supportive spaces, helping people build resilience strategies, and designing content tailored to different audiences, from young people at a university, to educators and support staff, through to business owners and employees. For the past 5.5 years, I have been working as Falmouth University’s Sustainability Coordinator, which involved designing and delivering a wide range of successful, bespoke training programmes and workshops to young people, working professionals, businesses, and members of the public. These include:
— A ‘Making your Business Greener’ day course, offered to visitor economy-focused businesses and organisations in the Cornish region. I introduced attendees to key sustainability principles, metrics and frameworks, incorporated activities relating to carbon footprint and creating effective communications, and facilitated the creation of tailored action plans for their organisation or projects.
— A ‘Leading Sustainability Change in Business’ day course, offered as a follow-on experience where I facilitated a deeper dive into key, high-impact sustainability aspects. I curated activities focused on defining effective leadership strategies for cultural change, considering how to drive positive impact in supply chains, as well as sharing information and best practice on honest, transparent communications. Across both day courses, I led around six iterations and engaged at least 30 people.
— Various workshops focused on climate action, social impact, and sustainability more widely, designed bespokely for the audiences and setting. These included: ‘Exploring the Circular Economy’, ‘map-jamming exercises’ to identify local activities and resources, ‘What Influence do Photographers have on Sustainability’, and ‘How to Maintain Hope, Optimism & Agency’. Within all I integrated emotional resilience activities to spur greater connection and impact, and focus on creating outcomes that are meaningful and leave the audience feeling empowered. I believe my core strength is my ability to break down overwhelming concepts, illustrate their relevance to a given audience, and motivate people to act.
I inject positivity and agency into people and workplaces, focusing on cultivating hope, empowerment, and clarity on our most significant positive influences.
