Rita Martins Pereira is a multidisciplinary textile artist, designer, and entrepreneur, and the founder and creative force behind Cross Lights. She learned weaving during her textile studies and, after several years exploring other creative paths, returned to the craft in 2015, developing her own contemporary approach to handweaving. Working on a manual wooden loom, she creates unique pieces that combine vibrant colours, diverse fibres, and sustainable craftsmanship. Her practice incorporates eco-friendly materials, traditional techniques, women’s empowerment, and joyful expression, expanding from wearable textiles to decorative objects. Raised within a multicultural family with roots in Brazil, India, Italy, and Angola, Rita’s international experiences and multilingualism deeply influence her artistic language and collaborations. Recognised as a Homo Faber artisan, she welcomes visitors to her atelier, teaches weaving workshops, and participates in international art residencies, sharing her passion for contemporary textile arts and cultural exchange.
