Program Overview

Core Value Proposition

Most people assume speaking fear is a confidence problem and that confidence comes from practice. So they practise, the fear stays, and they conclude something is wrong with them.

What's actually happening is a specific belief about what will happen if they speak, running faster than they can think. Racing heart. Rehearsing the sentence. Waiting for a gap that closes. Someone else says the same point and the room moves on.

Over a career, that quietly decides who gets seen and who gets promoted.

Voiced works on the belief first. Once you can name it, you can argue with it. You cannot argue with a feeling. You can argue with a sentence.

What makes it different is that you finish with evidence from your own experience rather than a feeling of having been encouraged, and that the evidence keeps being collected for three months after the coaching ends.

Ideal Participants

High performers who go quiet in front of senior stakeholders. Managers moving into roles where influence matters more than delivery. Leaders preparing for a specific high-profile moment such as a board presentation, a conference or an internal promotion panel. Professionals who have been given vague feedback about contributing more.

Works for individuals funding their own development and for organisations sponsoring one person. Common sectors include financial services, rail and transport, technology, professional services and education.

Not suited to anyone wanting slide design or presentation polish alone.

Participant Outcomes

Name the specific belief producing your silence, in your own words
Build a preparation practice you will actually use
Speak in a situation you would previously have avoided
Structure a message so it is understood the first time
Use your own stories and evidence deliberately rather than reciting information
Recover mid-sentence when something goes wrong instead of shutting down
Complete a full run-through of a real upcoming presentation, rework it and deliver it again
Leave with a 12-month plan you own and measurable movement across three domains

Organizational / Employer Benefits

Clarity: structuring a message so it is understood the first time
Perspective: replacing "I'm not confident" with a specific and workable problem
Measurable change: tracked across three domains at six points, including 90 days after the coaching ends

Structure & Delivery

Session Frequency Explanation

One session every two to three weeks across three to six months. The gap is deliberate. Practice assignments run between sessions and the change happens there rather than in the conversation.

The schedule flexes around a client's real calendar, including a compressed version where someone is working towards a fixed event.

Phases / Modules Details

Seven sessions of one hour, each with a workbook and a practice assignment.

1. UNBLOCK. Root cause of the fear, using the Breaking the Silence Quadrant. Outcome: you can name what is driving your silence. Assignment: observe one meeting without changing anything.

2. PREPARE. A preparation practice built around how you actually work. Outcome: a repeatable process before you speak. Assignment: use it once for real.

3. GRASP. Self-focus to audience-focus. Outcome: you can map who you are speaking to and what they need. Assignment: audience-map an upcoming communication.

4. RELATE. Your stories and evidence. Outcome: a bank of personal material you can draw on. Mid-point SCI. Assignment: use one story in a real setting.

5. ADAPT. Structure, flow and what to leave out. Outcome: a piece built to achieve a goal. Assignment: draft it.

6. DELIVER. Presence and delivery on a real upcoming situation. Full run-through, structured feedback, rework, deliver again.

7. EVOLVE. Consolidation and a 12-month plan. Final SCI. Creation of 12 month plan.

Final Culmination / Deliverable

Session six is the turning point. You deliver a real piece in full, receive structured feedback, rework it and deliver it again in the same session. Most clients say this is the moment the change becomes most visible, because the evidence is their own.

You finish with a personal 12-month speaker development plan, your own measured movement across three domains and a preparation practice you will keep using.

Delivery Format Explanation

Delivered on Zoom as standard. Most clients prefer this, because people speak more openly away from their own office and because the format matches where most of their difficult conversations actually happen.

Evidence & Resources

Measurable Outcomes

What is tracked
The Speaking Confidence Index, Amarkai's proprietary assessment, measuring across three domains. Physical, meaning the body's response before and during speaking. Mental, meaning the beliefs driving that response. Behavioural, meaning what people actually do in real situations.

When
Six points. Baseline before the programme begins. Mid-delivery, allowing facilitation to be adjusted. On completion. Then at 30, 60 and 90 days after the programme ends.

Why the final three matter most
Most training is measured on the day it finishes, when everyone feels positive. The 30, 60 and 90 day measurements happen after the room has gone quiet and ordinary working pressure has returned. That is where development either holds or quietly reverts, and it is where almost nobody looks.

What the organisation receives
An anonymised cohort report at completion and a further report at 90 days, showing movement across all three domains and the distribution of patterns within the group. Individual results remain confidential to the participant.

Additional indicators the client may choose to track
Meeting participation observed by line managers. Volunteering for visible work and presentations. Internal application and promotion rates over the following 12 months.

Case Studies / Testimonials

20 years in learning and development, five years specialising in the psychology of speaking fear.

"Think of this session as unlocking what is already there instead of improving yourself." In just three hours focused on presentation skills, Anthea helped me unlock the confidence within me, not only to speak up in meetings but to actively seek out opportunities to do so. As an introvert, stepping out of my shell was transformative." Steven Lynch-Barry, LCT International

One recent coaching client moved 37 points on the Speaking Confidence Index by programme mid-point. The reality of this is avoiding speaking opportunities to volunteering to organise and speak at an end of year internal team event.

Asset Finance Connect commissioned individual coaching for three NextGen speakers ahead of a 600-person conference. Video testimonial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As-EMduYs74

About the Host

A speaking confidence specialist with 20 years in learning and development and five years focused on the psychology of speaking fear. I work with professionals who are excellent at their jobs yet go quiet in the rooms that matter most to them.

My approach is psychology first. I address what someone believes about speaking before I touch how they do it, which is why the change tends to stick long after the session ends.

I have worked across financial services, rail, technology, education and professional services, with groups ranging from emerging talent to senior leadership. I have been the person in the room who couldn't speak, which is where the work comes from.

Sessions are warm, direct and practical. People leave having done something, not just heard something.
