Description
A Deeper Dive into Writing for Wellbeing is a 90‑minute facilitated workshop designed to help teams explore the restorative benefits of therapeutic creative writing. The emphasis is not on developing writing skills, but on demonstrating how simple, accessible writing practices can enhance mental health, resilience, and emotional clarity in the workplace.
The session begins with a brief check‑in and a set of shared Ground Rules to establish a psychologically safe, inclusive, and respectful environment. A short mindfulness exercise, such as a guided visualisation, helps participants settle into the space. They are then invited to write for five minutes about wherever the visualisation took them, such as a meaningful place or memory. Participants may choose to share their writing or simply reflect on the experience.
The workshop then moves into a second structured writing activity. Ahead of the session, participants may have been asked to bring three objects that represent aspects of themselves. Each participant introduces their objects to the group before receiving instructions for a 10‑minute writing exercise inspired by these items.
Following the individual writing period, participants move into small groups to share their work or discuss their reflections. This stage is designed to strengthen connection, build empathy, and deepen colleagues’ understanding of one another. After 10–15 minutes, the full group reconvenes for further discussion before taking a short break.
The final writing exercise invites participants to reflect on a person they wish they had spoken to in the past. They begin by capturing the context and the reason behind this unsaid communication, before writing a free‑flowing, non‑judgemental letter to that person. As this exercise can evoke strong emotions, the facilitator checks in with the group before moving into small‑group discussions. Where needed, the facilitator offers individual support to ensure participants feel grounded and validated.
Participants then return to small groups for 10–15 minutes of sharing and reflection, followed by a final whole‑group discussion. The workshop closes with a collective reflection, and optional follow‑up resources can be provided to help participants continue using writing as a practical tool for wellbeing.

About the Host
I am a Therapeutic Practitioner specialising in the design and facilitation of psychologically safe spaces where individuals and teams can explore personal insight, resilience and wellbeing through creative writing. My work supports both personal and professional development, offering practical self‑care tools that participants can continue to use long after the session. Crucially, no writing experience is required; I help people discover that the wellbeing benefits of creative expression are accessible to everyone.
My offer includes interactive themed workshops, longer immersive programmes and retreats, and bespoke 1‑to‑1 sessions. My individual work draws on an approach informed by Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems, supporting clients to explore their “inner cast of characters”—such as the inner critic or imposter—in a structured, compassionate way.
Alongside my therapeutic practice, I bring over 25 years of experience as a Sustainability Advisor, working with organisations to improve performance through systems thinking, behaviour change and culture transformation. I am an experienced trainer, presenter and public speaker, engaging audiences on topics ranging from therapeutic writing to sustainability and organisational wellbeing.
I am also a writer and Humanist celebrant, creating personalised naming and wedding ceremonies that honour the stories and milestone moments of families and couples.
Travel Locations
I can travel to most destinations (UK, Europe, Americas, Oceania, Africa and Asia), providing that the country or region does not appear as a high-risk area on the UK Foreign Office website. As a rough guide, I would charge for the cost of travel, accommodation and subsistence.
