Description

A Taste of Writing for Wellbeing is a one‑hour workshop that introduces teams to the restorative benefits of therapeutic creative writing. The focus is not on teaching people to “be writers,” but on showing how simple writing practices can support mental health, resilience, and emotional clarity.

The session opens with a short check‑in and a set of shared Ground Rules that ensure a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for participants. A brief mindfulness exercise then helps them to settle before engaging with a poem or short text, which may be read aloud to encourage collective focus.

Participants then complete a guided writing activity using prompts designed to spark reflection. After writing individually, they move into small groups to share their work—or simply discuss their experience—building connection and deepening understanding.

The workshop closes with a group reflection, and optional follow‑up resources can be provided to help participants continue using writing as a wellbeing tool.

Benefits

Therapeutic creative writing offers us a range of health and wellbeing benefits, including:

  • Increased self-awareness, confidence and reduced self-doubt
  • Fresh perspectives on relationships, work or life challenges
  • Lower stress and anxiety levels
  • Expanded creative thinking and problem-solving capacity
  • Improved decision-making
  • Enhanced mood through the cathartic act of writing
  • Improved emotional resilience and interpersonal relationships

About the Host

I am a Therapeutic Practitioner specialising in the design and facilitation of psychologically safe spaces where individuals and teams can explore personal insight, resilience and wellbeing through creative writing. My work supports both personal and professional development, offering practical self‑care tools that participants can continue to use long after the session. Crucially, no writing experience is required; I help people discover that the wellbeing benefits of creative expression are accessible to everyone.

My offer includes interactive themed workshops, longer immersive programmes and retreats, and bespoke 1‑to‑1 sessions. My individual work draws on an approach informed by Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems, supporting clients to explore their “inner cast of characters”—such as the inner critic or imposter—in a structured, compassionate way.

Alongside my therapeutic practice, I bring over 25 years of experience as a Sustainability Advisor, working with organisations to improve performance through systems thinking, behaviour change and culture transformation. I am an experienced trainer, presenter and public speaker, engaging audiences on topics ranging from therapeutic writing to sustainability and organisational wellbeing.

I am also a writer and Humanist celebrant, creating personalised naming and wedding ceremonies that honour the stories and milestone moments of families and couples.

Travel Locations

I can travel to most destinations (UK, Europe, Americas, Oceania, Africa and Asia), providing that the country or region does not appear as a high-risk area on the UK Foreign Office website. As a rough guide, I would charge for the cost of travel, accommodation and subsistence.
