Description
Overview
Stitch & Connect is a slow, hands-on embroidery session designed to create space for presence, reflection, and meaningful group connection. Through simple hand embroidery techniques, participants engage their hands while freeing their attention for conversation, exchange, and shared focus.
The tactile rhythm of embroidery naturally slows the nervous system, allowing participants to step away from screens and daily pressure. Time passes quickly, yet calmly—making the 120-minute format ideal for deep engagement without fatigue.
What Happens in the Session
The session unfolds in three phases:
1. Arrival & Grounding
Participants are introduced to the materials and guided through basic hand embroidery techniques. No prior experience is needed. This phase establishes a calm, inclusive atmosphere and builds immediate confidence.
2. Making & Dialogue
As participants embroider, gentle prompts or questions are introduced. Each embroidery technique can be paired with a theme—such as collaboration, focus, change, or belonging—encouraging relaxed, meaningful conversation.
The dialogue flows naturally as the repetitive motion of hand embroidery eases pressure and reduces the tendency to perform or overthink.
3. Reflection & Closing
The group comes together to reflect on the experience. Participants may share insights, observations, or simply the feeling of working and being present together. The session closes with a sense of completion, connection, and renewed focus. Participants leave with a completed small embroidered art piece.

Why Hand Embroidery
Hand embroidery is an intuitive, human-scale craft rooted in repetition and touch. It slows the mind, grounds the body, and creates a shared rhythm within the group. Many participants reconnect with hands-on making for the first time since childhood, which often leads to openness, curiosity, and ease.
Adaptability
The session can be tailored in collaboration with HR teams, facilitators, or organisers to align with specific goals, values, or themes. Suitable for creative teams, mixed departments, leadership groups, or organisations shaped by remote work.
Benefits
- Encourages calm focus and mental reset
- Builds confidence through learning a tangible craft
- Creates a safe, non-hierarchical space for conversation
- Strengthens connection within teams and across roles
- Supports well-being, engagement, and a sense of belonging

About the Host
Hand embroidery is a craft I inherited from my grandmother and have practiced since childhood. During my architecture studies, it became a counterbalance to screen-based work — a refuge for both hands and mind. Ten years ago, I fully devoted my practice to embroidery and teaching. What began as an upcycling skill quickly evolved into a mindfulness-based practice. More than 90% of participants join because they seek focused, tactile work away from screens. I work comfortably with diverse groups and create spaces that feel safe for both introverts and extroverts. I’m genuinely interested in people, work with low ego, and rely strongly on intuition, which allows for natural and meaningful connection.
