Description
This is a structured, creative team-building experience using clay. I guide participants through the art of surface design, transforming clay pieces into unique, personal artefacts.
The exact 75-minute session flow is:
-
Introduction (5 min): A brief talk on the tactile nature of clay and its link to focus and mindfulness.
-
Technique Demo (10 min): I demonstrate simple, elegant techniques for carving geometric patterns, using texture stamps, and applying coloured slips (non-toxic clay paints).
-
Hands-On Creation (50 min): Participants work on their own piece. They choose from a selection of leather-hard forms (e.g., a dish, tile, or medallion) and are provided with a toolkit to carve, stamp, and paint their design. My role is to circulate, offer guidance, and encourage creative problem-solving.
-
Share & Reflect (10 min): An optional, low-pressure group share where participants can present their piece and discuss the creative process.
I provide all specialized tools, materials, and work surfaces. The focus is on the meditative process of creation, collaboration in a shared creative space, and leaving with a tangible symbol of focused work.
Benefits
The Benefits:
-
Enhances Creative Confidence: Provides a safe, structured environment to explore personal creativity without prior skill, boosting innovative thinking.
-
Promotes Mindfulness & Reduces Stress: The repetitive, tactile nature of carving and stamping induces a state of focused calm, acting as an active meditation that lowers stress.
-
Fosters Non-Verbal Collaboration: While working individually, the group shares tools, ideas, and a creative energy, building team cohesion in a novel, non-competitive setting.
-
Develops Fine Motor Skills & Patience: The detailed work improves concentration and dexterity, exercising parts of the brain often unused in digital work.
-
Leaves a Tangible Outcome: Participants leave with a unique, self-made object—a physical reminder of team unity and their own creative capacity.https://pixabay.com/photos/clay-hobby-hand-2713777/
