Description

A lively, brain-friendly session introducing core ideas from Transactional Analysis (TA) — a psychological model pioneered by Eric Berne that helps explain how people communicate and why misunderstandings or “unhelpful patterns” arise in teams.

What participants explore:

  • The Parent-Adult-Child ego state model — how we show up in different ways depending on context

  • How habitual communication patterns can block collaboration or create tension

  • The concept of “transactions” (simple back-and-forth communication) and how to keep them constructive

  • Identifying unhelpful interaction styles and how to shift to more adult-to-adult responses

Experiential elements:

  • Small-group interactive exercises illustrating ego-state shifts

  • Case studies from everyday workplace dynamics

  • Pair work exploring personal communication patterns

  • Reflection questions and practical language tools

Benefits

Benefits:

  • Greater self-awareness
  • Improved empathy in communication
  • Reduced conflict
  • Clearer teamwork
  • A shared language for talking about behaviour

About the Host

I am a counselling therapist who began my career as a business consultant. My passion lies in helping people move through emotional overwhelm, stuck patterns and relational tension by translating psychological insight into reflection and practical tools that genuinely work in real life.
When I’m not in session with clients, I design wellbeing programmes and psychoeducational workshops for businesses, schools, organisations and communities. I’m particularly interested in making psychological ideas accessible, engaging and immediately usable — not abstract theory, but concepts that help people understand themselves and each other more clearly.
We spend a large part of our lives at work, yet very few of us are ever taught how to navigate its human side. I believe organisations flourish when people feel psychologically informed, emotionally aware and better equipped to handle challenge. Whether through structured workshops, one-on-one counselling, team sessions or teaching emotional first aid for moments when a colleague or client is struggling, my aim is the same: to bring clarity, steadiness and humanity into the spaces where we spend most of our time.
Because when we understand how people work, work works better.
