Workshop

Description

Duration: 90–120 minutes

Overview:
A guided, hands-on creative session that uses painting and optional textile elements to help participants shift into a more focused and engaged state of mind. Working with watercolour or acrylic, and sometimes mixed media (including simple hand-stitching), participants are led through a structured but flexible process that emphasizes exploration of their own creativity over perfection.

What Happens:
Participants are introduced to core techniques in painting, such as colour mixing, layering, and composition through a series of guided exercises. As the session progresses, they build their own piece step by step, with the option to incorporate fabric and basic stitching for added texture and depth.

The structure is designed to keep people engaged without over-instruction, allowing them to settle into the rhythm of making. No prior experience is required.

Benefits

Benefits:

  • Encourages focus and present-moment awareness through hands-on activity
  • Helps reduce mental clutter by shifting attention into a tactile, creative process
  • Builds confidence in creative expression in a low-pressure environment
  • Supports problem-solving and adaptability through step-by-step exploration
  • Provides a meaningful break from screen-based workWhat Makes This Different:
  • This session is built around the idea that focus develops through doing. Rather than framing the experience as a traditional workshop or a mindfulness exercise, participants are guided into a process where attention naturally narrows and engagement deepens through making.

The combination of painting and optional stitching introduces both fluid and slower, tactile elements, creating a balance that keeps the session dynamic, grounded, and memorable.

About the Host

Visual artist and facilitator with a background in communications and an established independent practice. My work centres on the idea that engaging with creativity: through painting, (watercolour, acrylic) or mixed media, can lead to a more focused, present state of mind.

I design sessions that guide people into that experience through hands-on making, using structure and material exploration to help them settle into the process. Whether working with paint or incorporating textile elements like embroidery, the emphasis is on staying engaged, experimenting, and allowing the act of creating to naturally shift attention and perspective.

I’m experienced working with a range of groups and bring a clear, grounded approach that balances guidance with creative freedom, resulting in sessions that feel both accessible and genuinely engaging.
