Workshop

Description

In this highly interactive session, participants step into a fast-paced "Writers' Room" to co-create a short script. Instead of dry lectures on theory, we use the mechanics of cinematic screenwriting: character motivation, conflict, and dialogue as a playful, safe mirror to explore real-world team challenges.

  • The Set-Up: I begin by introducing the basic, intuitive rules of script formatting (Action lines, Character names, and Dialogue).
  • The Creative Catalyst: I present the team with a dramatic narrative prompt customized entirely to their actual organizational challenges. For example: "The server crashes five minutes before the global launch..." or "A critical miscommunication threatens a major client partnership..." This allows us to adapt the session perfectly to the real, lived team dynamics of the company.
  • The Collaboration: Attendees are split into small production teams. Using their real-world obstacles as the plot, they must develop the story, negotiate character choices, write the action, and craft the dialogue to see how their characters creatively overcome the obstacle to find a solution.
  • The Grand Finale: The session culminates in a live "Table Read," where teams act out each other’s scripts. This fosters immense collective laughter, psychological safety, and deep engagement.

Benefits

* Team Relationship-Building & Cohesion: Working against a clock in a "Writers' Room" forces rapid, democratic collaboration, active listening, and collective decision-making.

  • Safe Space for Problem-Solving & Perspective: Projecting workplace dynamics onto fictional characters allows teams to address real challenges, communication bottlenecks, or friction points and brainstorm tangible solutions without finger-pointing.
  • Lateral Creativity: Breaks routine thinking by forcing participants to express ideas visually and through subtext rather than standard, dry corporate language.
  • Confidence & Engagement: The final Table Read pushes individuals slightly out of their comfort zones in a highly supportive, celebratory, and humorous atmosphere.
  • Alignment & Resilience: Helps teams collectively construct a narrative arc where a massive crisis transitions into a successful resolution, leaving them aligned and highly motivated.
