Description

We live in a world of increasing automation, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and robotics. Technology is accelerating almost everything around us: communication, production, analysis, content creation, and even recommendation systems that increasingly try to make choices for us. Yet in this rapidly changing world, one human skill is becoming more important than ever: decision making.

The future of work will not only depend on what humans can produce, but on how humans think, reflect, interpret, question, collaborate, and ultimately make decisions.

At the same time, most people have never truly been taught how to make decisions well.

We are overwhelmed by information, opinions, notifications, dashboards, AI-generated insights, and constant pressure to respond quickly. The speed of technology often creates the feeling that we also need to think faster. But better decision making often requires the opposite: slowing down, reflecting critically, understanding context, questioning assumptions, and creating space for meaningful dialogue.

This highly interactive workshop helps participants develop decision-making skills for today and for the future. Participants explore how humans make decisions under pressure, how bias and emotion influence thinking, and how teams can create clarity in complex situations.

Rather than focusing on rigid models or theory alone, this workshop combines practical tools from design thinking, systems thinking, behavioral science, creative facilitation, and strategic reflection. Participants actively work together on challenges, exercises, discussions, and simulations that help strengthen both individual and collective decision making.

During the workshop participants will:

• Explore why decision making is becoming one of the most important human skills in the age of AI and automation
• Learn how information overload impacts thinking, focus, and judgment
• Understand the difference between reactive, analytical, intuitive, and collaborative decision making
• Practice slowing down thinking in order to improve clarity and quality of decisions
• Identify cognitive biases, assumptions, and blind spots
• Learn techniques for critical thinking and reflective decision making
• Explore how emotions, group dynamics, and organizational culture influence decisions
• Use practical frameworks for prioritization, reframing, and navigating uncertainty
• Experience collaborative decision-making exercises and facilitated dialogue methods
• Develop tools and approaches that can immediately be applied in work and leadership situations

This is not a lecture. It is an engaging and participatory learning experience designed to help people become more conscious, confident, and capable decision makers in a world where that skill is becoming increasingly valuable.

Benefits

• Improved confidence in making decisions under uncertainty
• Better collaboration and alignment within teams
• Increased awareness of cognitive bias and blind spots

About the Host

I am a facilitator, educator and entrepreneur with over 15 years of international experience in
designing and delivering learning programs in innovation, leadership and human-centered design.
I work at the intersection of education and practice, translating real-world business challenges into
structured, experiential learning journeys. My approach combines design thinking, systems thinking
and behavioral change, enabling individuals and teams to develop both the mindset and capabilities
needed to navigate complexity.
Throughout my career, I have worked with global organizations such as Under Armour, ING, Bosch,
Philips and SAP, while also teaching and lecturing at institutions including TU Delft, IE Business School
and Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
I am the founder of Future Skills Academy, where I develop programs focused on essential human
capabilities such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and adaptability in the context of rapid
technological change and AI.
My work is strongly experiential and practice-based, helping participants not only understand
concepts, but apply them directly in real-world contexts.
