Workshop
Description
Many organisations value diversity, inclusion and collaboration—yet everyday reality often tells a different story.
Some voices dominate while others remain unheard. Directness is interpreted as aggression, hesitation as lack of competence, and disagreement as resistance. Teams avoid difficult conversations, managers struggle to address cultural tension, and inclusion becomes a policy rather than something people experience in practice.
In this interactive session, participants work with realistic situations from companies, foundations and social organisations. They examine how informal power, cultural expectations, communication styles and unspoken rules influence whose ideas are trusted, who feels safe to speak and how decisions are made.
Through guided discussion, practical cases and honest reflection, participants learn to recognise what is happening beneath the surface and practise more effective ways to respond. The aim is not to memorise cultural differences, but to build the awareness and courage needed to work well when perspectives, values and experiences genuinely differ.
Benefits
- Recognise when cultural differences are being mistaken for attitude, incompetence or resistance
- Understand how informal power and unspoken rules shape participation and decision-making
- Address tension before it turns into silence, frustration or disengagement
- Create space for disagreement without damaging trust or relationships
- Help managers respond more confidently to culturally sensitive situations
- Strengthen collaboration between people with different communication styles and expectations
- Move inclusion from policy and intention into everyday behaviour
- Build teams in which people can contribute without having to constantly adapt or prove themselves
Additional Experience Info
The session is tailored to the organisation’s context and can focus on leadership, team dynamics, social impact work, international collaboration or community engagement.

About the Host
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my profile.
I am a senior trainer, behavioural coach and facilitator based in the Netherlands, with more than 18 years of experience working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
My main focus is multi-, inter-, and cross-cultural competence: helping individuals, leaders and teams understand cultural differences, communicate more effectively and build stronger, more inclusive and diverse working relationships. My sessions combine practical tools, honest conversation, reflection and interactive exercises. I create a safe and energetic environment where participants feel comfortable sharing experiences, challenging assumptions and learning from one another.
Alongside cross-cultural training, I offer coaching and workshops in communication, personal leadership, confidence, teamwork, empowerment, empathy and professional development. Having lived and worked across different cultures and speaking several languages, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work.
I am available for sessions in the Netherlands and occasionally across Europe, and I enjoy adapting my approach to the needs, culture and dynamics of each group.
